Why We Started Hardshell
Back in 2020, our founder saw something he couldn't ignore: the global rise of specialty coffee was unstoppable — not just in traditional markets like Europe, but surging across the USA, the Middle East, Russia, and China. Espresso, once a café ritual, was moving into people's homes everywhere.
He had spent his whole career in this exact field. So instead of watching the wave, we decided to build for it — and Hardshell was born.
From day one we made a deliberate choice: be a product company, not just an assembly line. The espresso machine is one of the hardest small appliances to make well — high temperature, high pressure, unforgiving on sealing and extraction. Most factories treat it like any other appliance. We treat it as a craft. That difference — deep product definition plus relentless quality consistency — is why brands keep coming back.
JUST BREW IT. Spread coffee culture, bring espresso into everyday life, and help our partners brew success.

Led by One of China's Earliest Espresso-Machine Veterans
Our founder, Mr. Yu, is among the earliest professionals in China to work on semi-automatic espresso machines. Before founding Hardshell, he led the coffee-machine division at what is today the world's largest espresso-machine ODM — a company shipping over 5 million machines a year.
Our core team came with him. There, as engineers and development leads, we built espresso machines for many of the world's top coffee and appliance brands for 20+ years. We've developed nearly every type of espresso product line, and — just as importantly — we've made nearly every mistake this category can throw at you, once or even many times over.
In a high-temperature, high-pressure product, one weak point ruins the whole machine. We've walked through those traps already — so our partners don't have to. That's what 20 years really buys you.
Why this matters to you
You're not training a new supplier. You're partnering with a team that already knows where this category breaks — and how to build it stable, at a better cost.
What We Stand For

Product Obsession
We are deeply cultivated in coffee-machine culture, and we define products rather than copy them. We sense what's next — tech-forward design, intuitive UI, full stainless steel — and build it before the market catches up.
In practice: ~20 new models launched every year; design sense that rivals legacy brands at one-third of their price.

Quality We Won't Compromise
Quality, quality, and quality. For us it isn't a slogan — it's how we keep partners' brands safe on review-driven platforms like Amazon.
In practice: 99% shipment pass rate (industry: 85–90%); return rate about half the industry average; a 5-checkpoint quality system from supplier to final inspection.

Customer Delight & Word of Mouth
We provide customized, one-stop service and respond fast — often faster than consumer brands respond to their own customers.
In practice: a dedicated chat group with every client, minute-level responses; 90%+ repeat-order rate; partnerships running 5 years and counting.

Where Problems Get Caught — Before They Reach Your Customers
Every order goes through real reliability testing, not just a visual check:
| Test | What it does | Why it matters to you |
|---|---|---|
| Whole-machine life test | 6,000 cups continuous extraction | Proves the machine survives real daily use |
| Pump life test | 15,000+ cups to pass | The pump drives pressure — we test it to failure point and beyond |
| Pressure / leakage test | 2× working pressure (e.g. 30–40 BAR), held 30s in a sealed rig | Catches sealing defects → 0 tolerance on leakage |
| Electrical safety | Insulation, hi-pot, grounding resistance | Meets CE / ETL safety standards |
| Short-term life test (per order) | Run on every order before shipment | Catches fatigue issues (e.g. steam-valve, sealing) that whole-machine checks miss |
| Drop / transport test | Simulates rough shipping (rail, long-haul) | Fewer transit-damage claims in your market |

Our lab isn't a showroom — it's integrated into production. Issues caught at the lab feed straight back into design and supplier control.
5 Checkpoints. No Defective Part Moves Forward.
We run full-chain quality control — 5 checkpoints from raw material to shipment, each with a clear pass (✓) / return (✗) mechanism:
- 1
SQE — Supplier Quality Engineering
Evaluate, control and coach suppliers at the source
- 2
IQC — Incoming Quality Control
Every incoming part inspected; fails are returned to the supplier
- 3
PQC — Process Quality Control
In-line inspection at each step; fails go back for rework
- 4
QA — Quality Assurance
Systematic verification across the whole flow
- 5
FQC — Final Quality Control
Full-function check before warehousing; only passed machines ship

We focus hardest on core components (pump, boiler, valve, control board) — 100% inspected — so supply-chain variation never reaches your customers. The result: a sub-assembly first-pass rate in the high 90s and a 99% shipment pass rate.
Full traceability
Every machine carries a serial and batch code. If anything ever needs investigating, we trace it back to the exact day, line, and material lot.
Materials Chosen for Taste, Life, and Compliance
For anything that touches water or coffee, we default to stainless steel and food-grade materials — because Western consumers are highly sensitive to any off-taste, and one hint of plastic smell triggers a complaint.

Food-contact parts
Water tank, tubing, filters and boiler path are food-grade, passing FDA / LFGB food-contact standards.
Commercial-grade sealing
We use fluoro-rubber seals and thick PTFE tubing — the kind found in commercial machines — instead of ordinary household rubber, for longer life and reliable sealing.
Instant (thermoblock) heating with stainless tubing
No stored water sitting and scaling inside, which protects taste and hygiene.
Supply stability
Core components are sourced through centralized purchasing with one or two backup suppliers each — so a single supplier hiccup never stalls your order. Our key parts are sourced within a tight local cluster, keeping lead times short and quality controllable.
Certified to Enter Your Market — and to Pass Your Audit
| Management systems | ISO (quality management) · BSCI (social-compliance audit — many factories don't have this) |
|---|---|
| Product approvals | CE · CB · ETL · LFGB · RoHS · REACH · ERP (also TUV reports) |
| Market-specific support | SASO / SABER (Saudi) · G-Mark (GCC) · EAC (Russia / EAEU) · UKCA (UK) · SNI / SIRIM / CR / PS (Southeast Asia) |

For B2B buyers this means two things: your supplier is a compliant, well-regulated company, and you can list on major platforms and clear customs in your market without worry.

The CASABREWS story
When CASABREWS started, they weren't coffee-machine experts. We co-defined the product from day one, locked in batch-to-batch stability, and protected the Amazon review flywheel for 3–4 years running. Today they rank among the Top 3 espresso machines on Amazon USA — and we remain one of just two suppliers they trust.
~150 People Who Take Coffee Seriously
Our ~150-strong team spans production, quality control, engineering, purchasing, marketing and finance. The core engineering and development team carries 20+ years of espresso-machine experience from the world's largest espresso-machine ODM. We even have professional baristas in-house — because we use our own machines every day.
